One of these little things 7: the ornament

Most people have those invaluable things in and around the house. It can be a souvenir from a place visited; memories from childhood, a heirloom or whatever. I’ve made a photographic inventory in our house and I publish the images in this blog, one by one. They are all in B&W.

Today some attention for our chest; and more in specific the ornament on top. It’s a signature piece made by the famous Dutch furniture maker Jaap Glandorff. I got to know him in the beginning of his career when his prices were still affordable for a wider public. In those days het was getting a name as the guy who made chairs based on an upside down Mongolian horse-saddle. These ergonomic chairs were ideal for people with back problems. Can you imagine; sitting on hard (maple) wood without cushion for hours and still relaxing? He customized (still does I believe) for every individual customer with back problems!

The pictured ornament is an original Mongolian sign but I forgot the meaning of it. Anybody?
