Street Photography 4: The Landing

Living at the edge of the village has its advantages. Our street borders a stream (“Vlei” in Afrikaans) with an abundance of winged wildlife. Every morning I let the dog out and we are greeted by ducks, seagulls (the ocean is only a few kilometers in bird flight) and other birds I don’t know the name of. People jogging or on their way to work, etc. Rain or shine; it’s always wonderful and there are always ‘subjects’ to photograph. This serie of 10 begins with a duck in full flight and ends with our border along the wooden fence.

THE Garden at Fraai Uitzicht 1798

Today I checked the garden we created 2 years ago at Guesthouse Fraai Uitzicht 1798 (4* rated) in the Klaas Voogds Valley near Robertson in the Western Cape, South Africa.

It still looks good despite a little backlog in maintenance (due to ‘awesome busy season’) but at the moment 2 staff members weeding. Soon we plant the ‘filling up’.

Reiersvlei

One of the oldest farmhouses around Stanford, South Africa; since several years restored and extended and home of the ‘Bold and Beautiful’… The name Reiersvlei (heron’s stream) is derived from the surroundings where herons and over more than 100 other different bird species have their homes.
