Dhunga Earthworks Jewelry 'Made in Stanford'

This is just a first trial; more Trial & Error to follow.

Yvonne developed a way of binding earth particles in a natural environmental way. Combined with Sterling Silver and Swarovsky gems Yvonne creates jewelry under the ‘brand’ Dhunga Earthworks. And it’s selling (wholesale and retail via The Little Gem in Hermanus). Dhunga is Nepalese for Rock.

In due time she wants to market the jewelry via selected outlets on a global scale. But first she is busy with the creation of a new line of bracelets and necklaces. Prices of the different items vary from USA 50.00 to USD 300.00.

Packaging is ‘green’ and made of cotton and corrugated cardboard.

Pictures from the square yard 16: Thandi; add some

The Dutch writer Simon Carmiggelt made a living by observing from his ‘own’ chair and table on a terrace in Amsterdam. He wrote about objects he saw, about people and interaction between them, the sky, the weather and so on. And his stories never became boring; he could even write five or six pages about lightning a sigaret; between taking a match and the first inhale of smoke…

I became inspired by this when sitting on two terraces; one in Somerset-West (Store Cafe) and at the terrace of Thandi in Elgin. I made a selection of 20 images (10 of each venue). Each serie I begin the  gate and you may make your own story. My story is in each individual picture.

To provide this serie with an own signature I added HDR-toning to each picture.

No petrol station

Baardskeerdersbos is a small hamlet somewhere in nowhere in the Overberg region in the Western Cape, South Africa. The nearest petrol station is about 30 kilometers away. Donkey transport for people and goods recommended. It’s green over there!

The good wines

Yesterday I posted in the other blog the entrance of of the Sir Robert Stanford Estate. That had more likes than I expected….

Yes we have some great wines here in Stanford. Except for the one mentioned  there are wineries that create their own wines such as Vaalvlei, Brunia, Stanford Hills, Springfontein, Boschrivier and Raka. Main produce are wines of the South African grape varieties Chenin Blanc and Pinotage next to more common known ones as Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz. And the farmers are investing for they see a prosperous future. Relatively many Platter stars are awarded to this area; in fact proportional more than to wineries in other wine producing areas within South Africa.

The pictures below were shot at Springfontein some time ago.
