There you go!

Until tomorrow there is the art event Creative Napier.

17 artists from the village present their work in their home studios and in venues in the village.

My work can be seen at Studio98 along the main road together with that of jewellery designs by Yvonne de Wit, a few miniature steam engines by Kevin Doveton and ‘Tales of the forest’ by Marthie Gerber.

The first two days of this event were very successful.

Thank you for your support.

What to do between 27 and 30 December in Napier, South Africa

17 local artists will exhibit their work in their home studios and establishments throughout the village and Studio98 along the main road is in the centre of all.

At Studio98 along the main road in Napier you will find the work of jewellery designer Yvonne de Wit and photographic artist Herman van Bon.

Yvonne de Wit studied Fine Art in the Netherlands and lives since 22 years in South Africa.

Mesmerised by the colourful palet of the Overberg mountains she began to collect stones and soils. After a few Land Art projects she started to combine her collection of earth particles with copper, brass and Sterling Silver into pieces of jewellery that reflect the land in a different way.

Each piece is an ode to Mother Earth.

Her jewellery is recognised by a growing number of jewellery collectors around the globe for their design originality and the use (combination) of natural resources.

Since April 2016 Yvonne has her studio in Napier in the Western Cape; about 90 minutes drive from central Cape Town.

——————————————————————————————————————————

Born in the Netherlands and currently living in Napier, South Africa, photographic artist Herman van Bon explores the poetic qualities of photography. His images highlight the ethereal beauty of the landscapes around him; we loved how so much of the visual action takes place in the sky, with terrestrial life — trees, grass — merely a secondary character in a much bigger story”. – Ben Huberman (WordPress)

“Wat T.T. Cloete in sy gedig sê is waar: ‘die aarde is deur een dichter gemaak’. Mensen soos Herman van Bon het die gave om dit dmv fotografie vast te lê …. Dankie!” – Awie van Wyk

“The Hieronymous Bosch of the digital era”. – Lizia Nieman (RIP), L’Art Niemaclature

“In the Eye of the Beholder of Herman van Bon is a surprising and lovely image from South Africa” – Review of group exhibition in LAC Los Angeles in LA-Times

“Herman van Bon has an amazing eye for capturing beauty”. – Kamalini Govender in Tales and Dreams (USA)

“I just love the inventive, nuanced, beautiful and surprising work Herman van Bon keeps doing.” – Douglas Moorezart (USA)

“For the love of BEAUTY …… the photography of Herman van Bon …. this kind of work really hits me so deep that i feel sparks flying inside my head and the inspiration to produce MORE art then just wells up naturally within me. Thank you, Herman van Bon ….” – Johan J. Steyn

Busy

The spin-off of the art event ‘Creative Napier’ last month keeps Jewellery Designer Yvonne de Wit busy, at least to the end of this month.

Numerous bracelets, and necklaces, etc. All for customers from Napier and surrounds plus an order from France.

Photo: Rings of South African Sterling Silver and brass with natural bonded pigmented earth minerals which I add layer after layer; a process that, including drying, takes about 14 days.

Come and have a look at her collection at Studio98 (98 Sarel Cilliers Street) in Napier. Until end of next week daily open.

The last two days….

The last two days of the very successful art event Creative Napier ….

Some of Yvonne de Wit’s figurines on display at Studio98.

These are all her own design and purely handmade of South African Sterling Silver combined with natural bonded earth minerals/pigments.

And what’s more? These are all unique single pieces so you won’t see your neighbour with the same necklace…

Studio98 is at 98 Sarel Cilliers Street (main road, 100 m pass the church towards Bredasdorp)

Studio98 is home of Jewellery Designer Yvonne de Wit and photographer Herman van Bon.

For your agenda

New work next to existing work. Jewellery Designs by Yvonne de Wit and Photography (+ ‘Photo-Graphics’) by Herman van Bon at Studio98 along the main road in Napier.

BTW Studio98 is DAILY OPEN during this December month.

Creative Napier

Today is the start of one of the largest art events in the Overberg region in South Africa.

14 Artists from Napier present their work in 10 different locations. All are locally relatively unknown but all are able to make a living in one or another way in these difficult times.

On display are amongst others, paintings, drawings, sculptures, photo’s, handbags (not the crafty stuff) and jewellery.

Me and my wife, jewellery designer, Yvonne de Wit own Studio98 along the main road and that is where we present our work.

Yvonne designs and creates unique jewellery of copper and Sterling Silver all or not combines with each other and all or not with a stone she makes of colourful local (South African) earth particles and pigments which she binds in a natural way. It took her 2 years of experimenting with plant material that binds earth (pigments) into a water-, heat- and frost resistent stone. The metal comes in in granulates which she melts, shapes and welds into the the final product.

As for myself I will emphasise my Haiku photography. There are only 2 photographers in South Africa who are at home in this discipline. The phenomenon is relatively unknown in South Africa contrary to that with countries in Europe, the Far East, Australia and the Americas where most of my Haiku photos end up….. Most of the Haiku photos shown below are already sold but I’m not sitting still….

Jewellery at ‘Creative Napier’

Yvonne de Wit is my wife and together we run Studio98 in Napier, South Africa. Yvonne designs and create jewellery made of copper, Sterling Silver combined with natural bonded (no artificial resins) earth particles/pigments which she adds layer for layer in the designated parts of her jewellery. This is a very time consuming work.

As far as known she is the only jeweller in this specialism. It took her 2 years to discover (and experiment with) the right plant material to bind the earth/pigments to a solid, frost-, heat- and water-resistant stone.

This coming weekend we are part of of the art event Creative Napier where 14 artists from the village present their work in 10 locations.
