Early Morning Ritual

The shacks in informal settlement Die Kop near our village are not connected to electricity, water and sanitation. Early in the morning, before going to work or school, there is this ritual of brushing teeth at the communal water tap.

Monday is Laundry Day ….

… and yes, in my youth in Holland Monday was the day that my mother did the laundry. I don’t know if this is a global phenomenon but in informal settlement Die Kop near our village people do also live to this tradition.

Today we celebrated Mandela Day at the pre-primary school Funimfundo in informal settlement Die Kop near our village.
