Mantra of a Mantis: "Eat or be eaten!"
Recently I submitted a few images of a Hottentots God. Today I decided to play in Photoshop with one of the pictures combined with an older one of this sacred insect. Originally I had a purple background but after I added the different (highly mutilated in Photoshop) element layers I decided to choose for a Black & White imaginary. ‘Let’s dance’.
I needed 5 different pictures for this composition. The first one is the sky (mainframe) added with the photo’s of respectively the lorry going off-hill; 2 of the cows (one mirrored) plus the sheep. The pictures have one thing on common; they were all made within a radius of 2 kilometers in Papiesvlei nearby our village Stanford, South Africa.
The title I gave the second composition is “Invasion of the Hottentots Gods” and is compiled of photo’s of the Stanford sky; the ‘Grand Canyon of South Africa’ near the hamlet Plathuis somewhere North of Route62 between Barrydale and Ladysmith; the Klein Rivier Mountains (mirrored); herons (left top) from the Storch Hotel in Zurich; a sculpture (twice) from the garden of Fraai Uitzicht plus enlargements of the Hottentots God; a fascinating South African insect worshipped by natives.
This nice poem about the Hottentots God inspired me last week to picture one but than if you search it takes long so I took my chance and did the search like a Capetonian (very, very, laid back) and yes it worked (this time….). The insect suddenly landed on my hand and I had to hand-over to Yvonne’s hand for the picturing. After some photoshopping and adding some elements this came out of it. The featured one is with Clarissa. ‘Clarissa wants to have a ride’. Personally I go for the second one below (with bird) and the bottom one also is a nice composition. And for the rest; see for yourself. Fascinating insects; ET was modeled after it.
And yes; still practicing to master the equipment and especially the Adobe software. We’re out for a few days. See you back this Friday!!!
