Irrigation

As usual one can be sure that if you irrigate your garden after some dry and warm weeks; it will rain within hours. I irrigated the garden last night and yes; a few hours after we got blessings from the sky …

Anyway during the ‘sunset irrigation’ I made a B&W and a FC picture and combined the two of them in Photomatix Pro. After that some processing in Topaz and Perfect Suite 8 and this is the result. Not exactly what I was aiming for (the blues should be more accentuated) but for the moment it will do.

The River revisited

For me, born behind one of the Dutch dikes, a river in South Africa is more like a little stream in comparison with The Rhine, Volga or Mississippi; just to mention a few. Along our village flows the Klein Rivier (= Little River, or, maybe better in the context: Short River). It’s a fairly long river but its source is quite close to where it flows into the lagoon; it just took a long stretched bended course to find its way.

Recently I published the original picture (at bottom) but decided today to merge it with the inside of a rusty wheelbarrow. And this is the result; not perfect but worth the try:

One Misty Morning 8

In primary school in Holland we learned that clouds were made above the sea. During many travels abroad we learned that this is not (always) the case. Thursday Morning August 1 I did my farm tour around the village and this is part 8 of the result. Sometimes I’m still in doubt wether I will process a picture in B&W or in color. In those cases I will publish both. Same applies for processing in color so there is one ‘chapter’ in the serie with two full color images of the same landscape. Maybe some of you have an opinion?

At last but not at least I have to thank all those farmers and their staff who let me intrude in their work and life. It’s a homage to all those fine people who are shaping the landscape that inspires me endlessy. Thank you guys!

One Misty Morning 3

In primary school in Holland we learned that clouds were made above the sea. During many travels abroad we learned that this is not (always) the case. Thursday Morning August 1 I did my farm tour around the village and this is part 3 of the result. Sometimes I’m still in doubt wether I will process a picture in B&W or in color.
