‘Finished and Klaar’

Within the set time frame we re-landscaped a large garden (partly a kind of ‘forest garden’). A few thousand (re-)plantings, numerous divisions, new plant material from our own stock including a cycad (with permit), weeding and mulching, etc.. Worked with the own garden staff of the client for they have to maintain the garden. Always nice to hear: “Please send us the invoice” …. It was the second major (we only do ‘majors’) garden in a few months.

The other challenge (second photo gallery) was a minimalistic succulent/desert garden that flows over in a ‘fynbos’ landscape.

Trendy Places in Cape Town 3 (Helon Melon)

Many tourists to Cape Town visit the Waterfront. Alas … next to the Waterfront is the Watershed; a new building (with a yellow top gable). It’s one of those few places in the Mother City where one can buy truly South African made souvenirs. And unique these are!!! Unfortunately the Watershed is severely under-marketed by the tourism authorities and travel organisations. Pity, pity….

Helon Melon is one of those outlets in the Watershed. The owner and name-giver deals directly with the designers and crafts people who supply this shop. The prices are very reasonable.  Helon Melon also has some of her own staff engaged in creating unique pieces; from jewellery to clothing and everything in between.

One Misty Morning 8

In primary school in Holland we learned that clouds were made above the sea. During many travels abroad we learned that this is not (always) the case. Thursday Morning August 1 I did my farm tour around the village and this is part 8 of the result. Sometimes I’m still in doubt wether I will process a picture in B&W or in color. In those cases I will publish both. Same applies for processing in color so there is one ‘chapter’ in the serie with two full color images of the same landscape. Maybe some of you have an opinion?

At last but not at least I have to thank all those farmers and their staff who let me intrude in their work and life. It’s a homage to all those fine people who are shaping the landscape that inspires me endlessy. Thank you guys!
