Although originating from South West Asia many people in this area think that the quince is native to this country (South Africa) but what can you expect in a country where even conservation officials and (local wannabe) politicians are not always well educated and approve the dump of asbestos and other hazardous materials in a nature reserve …. But whatever; the quince tree in our garden produces unattractive (for the eye) fruits but once these are peeled, cooked and blended they resemble the taste of a delicious apple sauce. Add a bit of cinnamon and it combines well with boiled potatoes and a steak. Bon Appetit!
