I’m almost there. The only problem is the fabric I need for the inside. The quality (very refined) of cotton seems to be unavailable in South Africa so I am waiting for a parcel from abroad.
The first trials however (cheese cloth!!!) are not too shabby and once the right fabric is in I can go ahead. Will install the box in my workshop/studio (instead of living room!) and it will look neat. Will keep you informed.
For now a gallery with the present set up and a few trial results. Light-bulbs are 2950 Kelvin instead of daylight or other recommended bulbs. Sounds a bit weird but try it yourself. With right white balance choice on camera in combination with that in DxO Pro Optics these bulbs (Eurolux R80 reflector) provide the best solution.
Recently I start experimenting with opalotype processing of pictures. I’m still in the experimental phase but, unexpectedly, there seems some demand for giclee prints. And there occurs a problem: first of all it’s difficult to find a printer in South Africa who can offer a consistent high quality. For the board and canvas prints I found one in Cape Town (and these guys are extreme good!!!). But there are not many giclée printers in South Africa. The ones I found via internet still have to respond to my email request for a quote ….
This gallery shows a few opalotype pictures of flowers (all trials!):
Nothing is as difficult as selecting pictures for your own portfolio. This morning I tried and it resulted in a temporary portfolio. I’m far from satisfied hence the addition ‘temporary‘; it will change from time to time anyway. But it is a start.
In the cause of (beginning) 2014, with newly downloaded Photoshop plug-ins, the character of the pictures/imaginaries will change; recently I already published some trials (see also the ‘Portfolio Imaginaries‘ in the link which opens in a new window). To make a long story short just click here and see for yourself. I don’t expect anybody to follow this new (more or less ‘stationary’) blog but if you have remarks, tips, etc. please write those in the contact form of the opening page. THANK YOU!!!
At the moment I’m having a break on Facebook but without much (only in this blog) advertising the new FB-page (few weeks old) has 38 followers including 4 bloggers …. Within a few weeks I’ll add new pictures (abstracts/imaginaries) to that page. Twitters can follow my (scheduled) tweets via @greencathedral.
