Arum Lily

In Afrikaans also named ‘Varkoor’ (Pig’s Ear). Arum lilies grow in abundance in our part of the Rainbow Nation.

Can you imagine …..

….. that people name me ‘Varkoor’ here in South Africa. I’m not a ‘Pig’s Ear’ I am a proud Arum Lily!!! And I AM Beautiful; even in monochrome!

Varkoor …..

…… is the name given to this Zantedeschia aethiopica by Afrikaner people. Translated it means ‘Pig’s Ear’. I prefer the common English name Arum Lily. This plant like to grow in damp areas and in our village you find them all over along streams..
